Tyler began his career in real estate shortly after graduating college in 1999. His dad, Tim Wood, was already a successful and skilled broker in the Big Bear, CA area and convinced Tyler to join his team! Tyler decided they needed to step up their game and stay ahead of the curve. He also realized that marketing to out of the area vacation homeowners and potential clients was going to take an online approach. And after reading about “blogging” from REALTOR Magazine and a few other online sources he started his first blog (TheBigBearSkinny.com) in 2006. Tyler’s blogging efforts paid off by generating online exposure for his brokerage. So rather than manage both a brokerage website and a separate blog, it was time to create just one online hub. Tyler felt confined by his current Thesis Theme, and required a platform with greater flexibility to accomplish a successful merge. He needed a platform that he could easily add video and other content to, a platform that integrated listing management and robust home search, and a platform well architected for search. Tyler chose WordPress for those reasons, as well as the fact that the many current themes are being developed with responsive web design.

The Success

Tyler has experienced success from creating a great deal of video that he does himself in the car on the way to his office. He pretends clients are in the car asking him questions. Each video he creates (80 so far) he uploads to his YouTube channel. He also embeds each video on his site and writes a blog article to accompany it. Tyler’s videos and blogging efforts have been effective in getting the TimWoodGroup.com found online. His transparency, advice and tips, and quality home search tool with “homes by email” registration have been key factors keeping them busy and successful in the Big Bear area.
